Here in Toronto we’ve got two city halls right beside each other. Old City Hall housed the city council from 1899 to 1966 before they moved over to the new building. Back when it was completed, Old City Hall was easily one of the largest buildings in Toronto and also was the largest civic building in all of North America. While you might assume that New City Hall is the second city hall that Toronto has had, you may be surprised to find out that it’s actually the fourth!
But why did they make this move from the old to new?
