It has been almost two years since Yansong Ma came to Toronto to see the finished Absolute Towers in Mississauga but we've been following his work and his projects continue to fascinate and awe us. We especially love the concept and vision behind his 'shanshui city' project.
Shanshui City which means the city of mountains and water, has been designed with one main question in mind: what will the city of the future look like? The development is proposed to be built in Guiyang, China and is influenced by nature and shaped by human emotion.
Ma and MAD Architects released a book about Shanshui City this month and set up an exhibition of their works in time to coincide with the release of the book. The exhibition which ran from June 7-10, took place in the ancient Qing Dynasty courtyard garden of the WUHAO design store in Beijing. More than twenty architectural models and works of art were scattered around the courtyard including our very own Absolute Towers! Here are some photos of the exhibition:
What do you think of Yansong Ma's vision of the future? Would you like to see something similar here in Toronto?
