This week, Pier 27 hosted an event at their sales centre on the Toronto Waterfront for mayoral candidate George Smitherman. With the race well under way, Mr. Smitherman took this opportunity to outline his plans for Toronto if elected mayor.
"I'm somebody that's running to be the mayor of Toronto on a platform of ambition for the city, which is seeing the opportunity that we have here [on the waterfront] and seeking to be in a position to make the right moves to allow Toronto to live up to its full ambition," said Mr. Smitherman.

On his plans for core services, Mr. Smitherman says, "If you look at our city, the [services] run the risk of being an organization that seeks to be all things to all people. I believe strenuously in the idea that you must be more interested in the pursuit of quality, than quantity alone."
He continues: "I think we've watered down the wine just about enough and it's time for us to dedicate ourselves to the city of Toronto performing its functions at a much higher level of quality than people experience now."
